Frequently asked questions
How TryRestaurantsNear.Me finds restaurants near you, ranks them and keeps the details accurate.
What is TryRestaurantsNear.Me?
TryRestaurantsNear.Me is a restaurant discovery site covering all 50 US states. Each state has an editor that synthesizes current public ratings, recent reviews, menus and photos to name a restaurant worth trying, and diners add their own reviews, dish picks and up or down votes on top.
How do I find restaurants near me?
Search by ZIP code or by city and state from the search bar on any page, filter by cuisine, or browse the city and state hubs. Results show live Google Places data, and our researched picks are highlighted with an editor pick badge.
How are the restaurant picks chosen?
Candidates come from live Google Places data for each state. They are scored with a Bayesian average that balances star rating against review volume, plus bonuses for photo coverage and complete price, menu and contact information. The top scoring candidate that has not been covered yet becomes the day's pick.
Are the reviews written by people who visited the restaurant?
Editor write-ups are research based and clearly labeled: they synthesize publicly available ratings, reviews, menus and photos rather than a personal visit. Reviews posted by signed-in members are firsthand accounts from diners who went.
Are the photos real?
Yes. Every photo is served from Google Places with its original attribution. No AI generated restaurant images are used anywhere on the site.
How current are the ratings?
Ratings, review counts, hours and contact details are pulled from Google Places at publication and re-checked against live data before a write-up goes live, so figures reflect the state of the listing at that time.
Can I post my own review?
Yes. Create a free account, then add a star rating, notes, the date you visited and the dishes you would order again. You can also vote a pick up or down without an account.
How often is new content published?
One new restaurant pick per state, every day, which is up to 50 new write-ups daily across the country.
